Sept. 5, 2016—Woodard Elementary School fifth-grade studentErick Barajas, a Distinguished Honor Roll student for four consecutive years, loves math and reading and playing outside with friends. Barajas loves The MinionsSteven Universe and Pentatonix. He is inspired by his parents, and hopes to play collegiate and professional soccer when he gets older.

Accomplishments: Distinguished Honor Roll award, second through fifth grades; one of first Self-Managers at Woodard as a fourth-grade student; received an advanced rating on each STAAR test taken in third and fourth grades.

Favorite class: Math. “It seems more interesting than all the other subjects. I find multiplication and division very intriguing.”

Favorite things to do after class: “I love the outdoors, so I go outside often when I go home and play with friends in the neighborhood. Football and soccer are my favorite!”

Favorite song: Love Again by Pentatonix

Favorite TV show: Steven Universe. “The characters have gems and that determines their names. Some of the gems have started a rebellion and are turning Earth into their own planet. Other gems are trying to protect Earth and stop the rebellion. It is very interesting to watch the reactions.”

Favorite movie: The Minions. “They speak every language, which makes it interesting and quite funny!”

Ambition: “I want to be a soccer player in college and play professionally.”

What topics/things are you passionate about? Soccer, reading, math and my family.

What inspires you? “My parents inspire me, because they are always willing to help me any time it’s needed.”

What three things can’t you live without? Family, soccer and my pets, Toby (dog) and Patches (cat).

What are you most looking forward to this semester? “I can’t wait to get the STAAR test over with.”
