March 18, 2026—The CFISD Board of Trustees approved the administration’s recommendations for open/closed campus designations for student transfers for the 2026-27 school year during the regular meeting on March 2.

The transfer application window will open April 1 and close June 1. An application will be posted on the district website at www.cfisd.net, and is also available in print form at campus registrar offices beginning April 1.

CFISD identified three tiers of campuses eligible for transfers:

  • Tier I – Campuses with a permanent capacity of less than 95% of their projected enrollment shall be open for a specified number of transfers.
  • Tier II – Campuses with a permanent capacity between 95-109% of their projected enrollment shall be closed for all new transfers, except for the children of district employees.
  • Tier III – Campuses with a permanent capacity of more than 109% of their projected enrollment shall be closed for all new transfers, except for the children of district employees assigned to a facility/building located within the attendance zone of the school requested.
